Discover who you are

The world can certainly be cruel enough to convince you that you are unworthy, that you are incapable of fulfilling your desires. It can be cruel enough to convince you that you lack the strength and willpower to stand up for yourself. You may not have had a typical childhood, one that you can recall with bright painted colors of fun and enjoyment—but instead, you recall it with a dull and melancholic heartache you never wish to return to. It’s possible that, with all the love you want to put out into the world, your parents may have not shown the same amount of love to you. Growing up, the negatives seemed to far outweigh the good in your perspective. Restrictions and skepticism have leeched their way into your life: feelings of regret, guilt, fear, limitation, and unworthiness all fighting for dominance.

            Needless to say, your best course of action may be to understand that your past does not represent and will never equate to your future. Never claim a negative reality even way before it happens, this will only leave you unfulfilled and stuck in your old ways. Have you ever heard of “The Ripple Effect”? This is where you make a small change or initiate the first step of something, and this one particular action trickles down into other aspects of you, gradually turning the tables around with every drop that the ripple makes. Why not start with your first ripple now?

            All it takes is one single action. A lone decision. This book may very well be the first action you chose to take. Thus, congratulations on taking this step! You already believe that you can be more, so applaud yourself for seeking the strength to live your life with passion and for wanting to grow. That is the essential first step in discovering your purpose, you must want and aim for it without hesitation. A step closer to love, inner peace, and fulfillment waits for you, and it is just around the corner. Endless possibilities are just at the end of the line waiting for you because you already have the drive and ambition required to succeed. All that is left for you to do is to further discover them, and from thereyou will be able to have an abundance of them.

Be aware of what you want and what you do

            Throughout the years I was often asked, “Diana, how did you build your career and business from being such a shy person to being publicly visible and speaking in front of hundreds of people? What did you do to go from not daring to stand up for yourself to now succeeding and inspiring others?"—and the only reason I was able to answer these questions was that I had to discover who I was first. How did I manage to do it? What did I really gain? What kept me going? Finding my core and stabilizing it was one of the best decisions I have made because it pushed me to regain the strength and purpose to reach my dreams.

            With that said, it is also common for people who are unaware of their inner selves to not succeed in achieving their dreams. This is imperative. When a person seriously lacks awareness of their own values, purpose, and emotions, the path to their future branches out into loose ends with no clear indication of what those ends hold. A lot of people don’t realize this. When you have dreams, you don’t only wish for them, you need to act for them to happen. Aiming for a dream without the awareness of what you are and what you can do is like sitting through a boat waiting for the watercourse to take you to your destination and not realizing you can get there faster when you actually take the time to paddle through the stream. You just sit there, because you never took the time to find out that you are capable of pushing yourself nearer to your dreams. The only thing holding you back was yourself.

            This may be the reason why you are stuck and unable to escape your current situation. Now take the time to reflect and ask yourself: What’s holding me back? Throughout my life, I did found myself stuck so many times, even if I didn’t realize it at first:

  • In an unhealthy romantic relationship;
  • In friendships that weren’t worth my time and only drained me;
  • And in a job that failed to fulfill me—hindering me from becoming the powerful woman I was yet to know I could be.

            Take this as a sign to reflect upon yourself, the kind of people you surround yourself with, and the level of fulfillment that you have right now. Unless you discover what keeps you going, what holds you back, and what is happening within yourself, you cannot succeed. Understanding yourself, your emotions, and the kind of environment you have is essential before you can evaluate your results.

            Allow me to ask you: What is your true dream in life? In order to successfully achieve that dream, you must first identify it. Whether it’s a career choice, business venture, or coaching people, you must always clearly identify your goal—so clear that when you look at it, no obstacle can discourage you from reaching it. The lifestyle you desire, the specific types of relationships you aspire to have, and the kind of person you wish to become cannot be attained without first gaining clarity on how they should look like at the end of the line.
